Custom Mouthguards to protect teeth
Customised Mouthguard
Custom mouthguards helps cover your teeth to protect teeth and gums. Custom-fitted mouthguards fit and protect your teeth better than over-the-counter mouthguards. Night guards can ease bruxism (teeth grinding). Kids and adults should wear mouthguards during contact sports or activities like biking
Who needs a mouthguard?
Mouthguards are an important piece of safety gear for athletes of all ages. They help to protect the teeth, gums and jaw from injury during contact sports and other physical activities. They also help to prevent concussions. While you can buy stock mouthguards at most sporting goods stores, custom mouthguards offer a better fit and better protection.
Custom mouthguards are made from moulds of your teeth, so they fit snugly and comfortably over your teeth. They also provide better protection than stock mouthguards, as they are made to fit the unique shape of your mouth.
Types of Mouthguards
There are three main types of mouthguards: stock mouthguards, boil and bite mouthguards, and custom mouthguards. Stock mouthguards are the cheapest and easiest to find, but they are also the least comfortable and offer the least protection. Boil and bite mouthguards are a step up from stock mouthguards, as they are made to fit your mouth better. However, they still may not be as comfortable or offer as much protection as a custom mouthguard.
If you are an athlete, or if you participate in any activity where there is a risk of mouth injury, consider investing in a custom mouthguard. We customise mouthguards that are made specifically for your mouth and provide the best fit, comfort, and protection. They are also the best investment into your oral health to protect your smile. What would your dentist recommend?
For sports: In order to protect your teeth and prevent injuring your lips and tongue from head injuries, you may want to consider wearing a stock or boil-and-bite mouth guard.
For teeth grinding: In addition to causing tooth pain and sore gums, this is a sleep-related disorder that damages your teeth. Separating your top and bottom teeth would be easier with a custom-fitted mouth guard.
For Sleep apnea: A person with this sleep disorder may temporarily stop breathing while asleep due to a potentially serious sleep disorder. As a result, excessive snoring may occur. If you have mild sleep apnea, your dentist may recommend a custom-made mouth guard to keep your airways open.
For snoring: A mouth guard keeps your airway open by pulling your lower jaw forward.
Can I wear a mouthguard with braces?
Wearing a mouthguard is important if you play sports or clench or grind your teeth. If you wear braces that cover both your upper and lower teeth, your dentist will customize your mouthguard specifically for you. You will be able to protect your teeth, lips, tongue, and cheeks as well.
How do I take care of my mouthguard?
Follow these steps to protect and clean your mouthguard:
- You should brush and floss your teeth before putting on your mouthguard.
- Before putting it in and after taking it out, the mouthguard needs to be cleaned with cool, soapy water and rinsed with cool water or mouthwash.
- You shouldn’t use hot water since it may warp the shape.
- After each use, clean it with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
- Regularly examine the mouthguard for signs of damage, such as tears or holes; if it is loose or causes discomfort, it should be replaced immediately.
- You must use a firm, perforated container to store or transport the mouthguard. This allows air to circulate and prevents damage.
- If the mouth guard is acrylic, store it in fresh, clean water.
- Mouthguards can be distorted by hot surfaces, hot water, or direct sunlight.
- It is important to protect the mouthguard from high temperatures.
- When you go to the dentist, make sure to bring your mouthguard along so that the dentist can check its fit.
It is important to remember that a mouthguard provides the best protection whether you play sports or suffer from sleep disorders. Please contact us and we will help you choose the best mouthguard for you.
